Paw it Forward
Passing with Purpose
We can’t prevent the pain of goodbye – but we can use the love you shared for a better tomorrow. When you choose Camelot Cremation, your services provide food, shelter, medical care and more for the rescue animals of Whistler’s Run and Rescue. If desired, you may browse through the biographies of animals who have come to call the farm their forever home and choose the recipient of your gift. Perhaps our rescued mama cow has the same innocent eyes as your labrador. Maybe you’ll recognize the spirit of your horse in the antics of our orphaned baby goats. Who would your precious pet have chosen to support? Know the lives of these deserving souls are improved beyond measure because of the infinite love between you and your pet.
Whistler’s Run & Rescue Animals
Freya, the Spirited Mini Gypsy Vanner Horse: Freya was born into love here in Wisconsin, but quickly found herself in an extreme state of neglect and starvation in West Virginia. For 3 years she suffered until she was spotted from the road by a hero who called the authorities. Today, because the love you have for your pet has led you to Camelot Cremation, Freya is happy, healthy and will never know hunger again. (Freya will also have you know her spunk was not deterred by her terrible experience. Her nickname is “Peter Pistol”! She is a firecracker who LOVES her new life, takes care of all the baby horses at the farm and does not know any speed other than FAST!)
Penny, Bubbles & Lugn, the Mini Zebu / Highlander Forever Family: First to the farm was Bubbles. As a baby calf who had been taken from his mother, he looked to the humans, goats and pigs of Whistler’s Run and Rescue for companionship. He learned from all of us how to trust, but not how to be a cow. Bubbles army-crawls like a pig, hops like a goat and unironically inserts himself into all human activities. When the miraculous day arrived in which we were able to find and rescue his Mama, there was not a dry eye in the barn for those who bore witness to their reunion. Mama Penny was already pregnant with her new baby girl, Lugn. For the first time, in October of 2023, when her baby was born, Mama Penny did not have her precious newborn taken from her. She is an attentive, vigilant mother, but since coming to the farm, she has also learned to relax, play and ask for belly rubs. This family will never be separated again – because of the love you have for your furry family member.
Will & Harry, the Gentle Giant Belgian Brothers: Will & Harry were sent to slaughter when their bodies could no longer perform back-breaking work for their owners. They were made to leave the only home they ever knew, with untreated medical struggles and no hope for a future. Now rescued and living at the farm, their bodies bear the scars of years of hard work, but somehow, their hearts are in pristine condition. Their willingness to trust humans after all they have been through is astounding. At Whistler’s these boys experienced relief from their arthritis, skin conditions and other medical ailments for the first time – all because you have chosen Camelot Cremation in a final act of love for your beloved animal companion.
Shepard: After a long life of hauling logs, plowing fields, being not just overworked but underfed and medicated for ailments of overuse, Shepard has found himself at Whistler’s Run and Rescue. Here, he will spend his days next to his best friend, Cider, whom he keeps a protective presence over, hence, his name. No more work, no more pain – just gentle breezes, sunrises and sunsets, fresh air and friends. For the rest of his days, he will call this sanctuary his forever home – because you have chosen Camelot Cremation to support him!
Patton: This Percheron’s life started out hopefully at a higher end breeder, known for producing show horses. For one reason or another, Patton was deemed unacceptable. He was made to leave the only home and family he had ever known and thrown into the auction / kill circuit. He traveled the country for quite some time, passed back and forth between humans who thought they could make another dollar off of his back. Eventually, he met Duke, another horse who had landed in the same grim situation. A kind soul – it just takes one! – took note of this powerful bond born in the bleakest of circumstances and knew these two could not be separated. At that point, Whistler’s stepped in and offered them both a forever home – together. It is because of your love for your animal these two will know only goodness and companionship for the rest of their days!
Lennon: Meet Lennon, a mini Bernedoodle rescue who has the extreme pleasure of living life on the farm! As a designer breed, Lennon likely cost his original purchasers quite the pretty penny. We were unsure of why he had been given up, but once he decompressed and got comfortable at his new home we could see… The only polite way of stating it is to say that even the 42 acres of Whitler’s Run and Rescue and several other doggy friends are not enough to tucker this guy out (or quiet him down) in any given 24 hours. Lennon is EXCITED. We can’t imagine how “misbehaved” he would have been in a setting that required him to be confined to a kennel for many hours of the day or without the chance to socialize and stretch his legs. These ingredients have been key to Lennon ensuring himself a forever family at the farm – and that would not happen without you choosing Camelot Cremation for YOUR forever family, as well. P.S. We did hear from Lennon’s original family he had never been allowed up on the bed. We are happy to report he LOVES to sleep curled up next to his adoptive mama, in the middle of the mattress. He is the first pup on the bed each night and gets so thrilled to see his mama approaching he does hops and happy taps with his front paws until she has fully laid down, ready to put her arm around him for the night. Welcome home, Lennon!
