Our Story: From Loss to Legacy
Camelot Cremation is the realization of two sisters in De Pere, WI who own and operate a 42-acre animal sanctuary, Whistler’s Run & Rescue. Upon opening the farm, Lauren and Alissa were anticipating only the joy of saving animals. The sisters soon realized they were not prepared for how often they would also encounter death. Both had lost animals before, and the topic was one to avoid.
The process felt foreign, cold and final.
The aspiring farmers quickly came to a conclusion about the inescapable truth of animal stewardship: To genuinely love an animal, one must show up – eyes and hearts wide open – for the hard parts, too. To do right by an animal is to take on every moment with that soul – even (and maybe especially) the final ones. Life on a farm teaches a great many things. Soon, the sisters began to understand: Death is a natural part of the life cycle. Death is not an end point on a line – it’s a continuation in the circle of life.
From this truth, Camelot Cremation was born. Every service at Camelot Cremation supports the animals of Whistler’s Run & Rescue. The love shared with your pet will continue on this earth in a real and tangible way – because death does not erase love. The beauty of your bond will be celebrated and multiplied, as real as it was every day of your pet’s life. On behalf of all the animals at Whistler’s Run and Rescue, we thank you for honoring your beloved animal companion by trusting Camelot Cremation.
With eyes and hearts wide open—and during the hard parts, too—we are here for you.
Warmly,
Lauren and Alissa
